The department is located in the Medicon Village area, which brings together academic research, industry, and the public sector with a special focus on life sciences and is characterized by a collaborative and innovation-driven environment.
The department has several high-quality infrastructures, including platforms for multiplex flow cytometry and cell sorting, antibody development, spatial omics, mass spectrometry, and expertise in bioinformatics through NBIS (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden). By utilizing advanced technology to solve complex questions in biomedicine, our institution has established itself as a leader in several research areas and contributed to successful spin-off companies – many of which are based in Medicon Village.

Job Responsibilities and Duties
The position is placed in a research group with a particular focus on immune cells in cancer. We conduct translational research aimed at developing more effective treatment strategies by modulating immune cells. By characterizing the tumor's immunological microenvironment, we strive to identify key immune-regulatory mechanisms that can then be further explored in human-based model systems.
Various in vitro assays and advanced explant-based model systems will be used in the research projects, and the project assistant will actively participate in the experimental work with these. The work may include handling and culturing primary human cells and tissues under various conditions.
A number of analytical methods will be employed, such as in-depth phenotyping with flow cytometry, high-plex analysis of soluble factors, spatial characterization of tissue sections with immunofluorescence, and associated data analysis. The role also includes compiling and interpreting experimental data.
Qualifications
Requirements for employment:
- Master's degree in biotechnology, cell biology, molecular biology, or equivalent
- Knowledge in immunology and having conducted an independent research project (such as a master's thesis or equivalent task) in areas such as immunology/immuno-oncology/immunotechnology or similar
- Practical experience working with primary cells
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
- Very good collaboration skills and communication abilities
Desirable qualifications:
- Practical experience working with immune cells, including e.g., isolation of immune cells from blood/tissue
- Practical experience in cell culture
- Practical experience with analytical methods such as multiplex flow cytometry and multiplex analysis of soluble factors (for example, using Luminex systems) and associated data analysis.
- Practical experience working with human tissue, e.g., isolation of cells from tissue and/or culturing tissue
- Experience analyzing patient data and knowledge of biostatistics
We place great importance on personal qualities such as commitment, scientific interest, attention to detail, independence, and good communication and collaboration skills.
Additional Information
The employment is a special fixed-term appointment (SÄVA) for 6 months with a start date of April 1, 2026, or by agreement. Full-time position.

Applications must be written in English and include a personal letter describing why you are interested in the position and how your qualifications match the job responsibilities. Please also attach your CV, copies of relevant degree certificates, and any other documents you wish to submit (certificates, references, recommendation letters, etc.).
